Why we are sometimes a mystery to ourselves. Sometimes we behave in ways that we just can’t figure out: “What made me speak like that?” “What made me act like that?” At such times, rather than thinking that we can never understand ourselves, which is one unhealthy extreme, or [going to] the other unhealthy extreme, where we just give labels to ourselves: “I’m hopeless,” “I’m worthless,” “I’m addicted.” – We need to look at ourselves with an attitude of healthy curiosity. Like in a mystery, we look for clues, and we understand what makes us act the way we do. And thereby we can understand how we can ensure that we make better choices in the future.
