The world may make our power less, but it is our mind that makes us feel powerless. Sometimes, the world may put us in situations where our capacity to do things may be substantially, terribly limited. For example, we may fall so sick that we are confined to bed rest. At such times when our power has become very less, we can still do something: we can think positive, uplifting thoughts; we can pray to God; we can offer our prayers for the welfare of those who love and those who are offering care to us. But instead if we let our mind make us feel sorry for ourselves, then we feel completely powerless. And that feeling comes not because of the world, but because of our mind.
