Happiness comes not by gaining something enjoyable, but by pursuing something valuable.

The world teaches us that when we get desirable objects, especially objects that give gratification to our senses, then we will become happy. However, such pleasure is superficial and short-lived. What gives us fulfillment is pursuing something valuable, having a sense of meaning and direction in our life, and making tangible progress in that direction. By this, we get a profound satisfaction that comes from knowing that we are living meaningfully.
