Pray to God—not for pleasure, but for purpose. When we approach God through prayers, we often seek pleasure or, more specifically, the objects that we believe will give us pleasure. However, outer objects, even if obtained, provide us with pleasure that is very external and perishable.

What will give us much more substantial and profound happiness is our purpose. When we pray to God, He can infuse us with the conviction that our existence matters, that we have a purpose in His grand plan for the world, and pursuing that purpose is the pathway to enduring happiness.
