Some people see warnings as a sign to stop what they are doing and others see the same warnings as signs that they should keep doing what they are doing even more vigorously. Some people, when they do something which is different from what everyone else is doing, look forward to how people respond; and if others warn them to not do that thing, then they immediately stop. But there are other people who see warnings actually as confirmations that they are doing something right. And they push on – In fact, they may even push on more aggressively. The Bhagavad Gita points to such wide difference in mentality of people in 2.69. And that’s why when we are warning people, we need to first evaluate how they will respond to our warnings.
