Bhagavad Gita 18.64

sarva-guhyatamaṁ bhūyaḥ

śṛṇu me paramaṁ vacaḥ

iṣṭo ’si me dṛḍham iti

tato vakṣyāmi te hitam

Now hear from me the most secret of all,

My supreme message, a loving call;

For you are most dear to me indeed,

And so I speak to fulfill your highest need.

My dear Lord, through the progression of thought in your message, you offer an increasingly intimate understanding of who you are and what you do.

O supremely illuminating Lord, your words, profound and potent, reveal you to be a dispassionate teacher. You explain calmly and clearly what is best for me and then leave the choice to me out of respect for my free will.

O all-accommodating Lord, your words further reveal you to be a deeply invested mentor. After imparting education, you do not leave me to my own means. You are always with me, within me, as the Supersoul, guiding me through all of life’s ups and downs.

O untiring Lord, your words also reveal you to be the ultimately committed benefactor. While teachers and mentors receive some compensation, you neither receive nor seek anything from me except my highest well-being.

O Lord of love, your words here reveal you in your culmination: the most passionate lover. You delight in endless love with your countless pure devotees in your own abode. You do not need me, yet you still want me to rejoice in your love. Thus, you speak your message as your love-call to me.

O all-attractive Lord, may I be immediately uplifted by whichever manifestation of yours is most relatable to me—as teacher, mentor, or benefactor—and may I ultimately unite with you as the lover par excellence.
