Whenever we feel dissatisfied, we often attribute it to some external cause: ‘I don’t have this house. I don’t have this car. I don’t have this phone.’ However, even if we got those things, we would soon start looking for other things that we don’t have and would still feel dissatisfied. What then is the actual cause of the dissatisfaction? It is not the absence of things externally; it is the presence of thoughts internally—thoughts that are associated with greed, possessiveness, and craving. And these thoughts can actually be removed only by purification.

That is why the way to satisfaction is not greater possession; it is greater purification, which comes through our connection with God through devotion.
