Even if we can’t stop temptation from coming to us, we can still stop ourselves from going to temptation. We live in a temptation-filled world, because of which we will be exposed to temptations sometime or the other. We can try to create boundaries to protect ourselves, but when temptations do come to us, that doesn’t mean we have to be helplessly exposed to them. We can ensure that we don’t go toward that temptation. That means we don’t let our consciousness, unrestrictedly, unguardedly, get obsessed with that temptation. How? By giving ourselves something else, something more attractive, something more meaningful to focus on.

02.58 One who is able to withdraw his senses from sense objects, as the tortoise draws its limbs within the shell, is firmly fixed in perfect consciousness.
