See humility not as a weakening or a losing of our ego. See it more as a strengthening and gaining of our intelligence. Whenever we have to do something in which we are going to lose something, we become extremely reluctant. And that’s what happens to us when we have to admit that we are wrong, which is what humility often requires us to do.

While, yes, our ego may be losing when we admit we are wrong, but it is our intelligence that is gaining. We are gaining greater wisdom, greater experience, greater insight. And if we focus on what we are gaining, then humility will become easier to cultivate.
