It takes courage to fight against our inner demons. It’s much easier to pretend that they don’t exist and to pretend that we are good people — even while those inner demons are making us do bad things. It really requires a heroic person to stand up to those inner demons and be ready to fight against them — be it in terms of fighting against short-temper, fighting against craving, fighting against addictions.
And it takes greater courage to seek the help of others, including especially the Supreme Lord, in fighting against inner demons. Because in seeking others’ help, we are making ourselves vulnerable, and such vulnerability requires humility. And in such humility is the greatest courage that can bring about the ultimate transformation.
