Even if we can’t stop our feelings from changing, we can stop our feelings from changing our actions. Whenever we resolve to do something good, uplifting, and positive, we are often slowed down or even sabotaged by our feelings. We just don’t feel like doing those things, whether it is exercising regularly, doing regular mantra chanting or sadhana, or reading wisdom texts like the Bhagavad-Gita.

At such times, to be able to persevere, we need to know that our feelings don’t have to control our actions. Once we understand that we are souls and we have a mind and we have a body, and the body can be controlled by the soul, not by the mind, then we can put aside our emotions and continue with our actions. That is what the Bhagavad-Gita recommends when it tells us in 15.15 to push on by divine grace.
