Does faith mean accepting without understanding? Not at all. Faith means accepting that some things are beyond our understanding, not that we accept all things without understanding. The Bhagavad Gita itself demonstrates how Arjuna asks many reasonable questions, and Krishna answers those questions. In general, by studying wisdom texts like the Bhagavad Gita, we come to understand God’s benevolence, as described in Bhagavad Gita 5.29, “suhṛdaṁ sarva-bhūtānāṁ.”

However, when specific events occur in our lives, and we struggle to make sense of them, the Bhagavad Gita provides guidance to enhance our understanding. Yet, when we can’t make sense of things, we can accept them as part of God’s inconceivable will. Therefore, faith helps us transcend normal understanding rather than limit our normal understanding.
