When we commit a mistake due to some impurity inside us, do we seek a better lie for covering that mistake, or do we seek a better life by curing the impurity that led to the mistake? Generally, whenever some mistake happens from our side, our first tendency is to excuse ourselves by covering it up. And often, we use our intelligence to come up with lies and better lies and still better lies so that the cover-up seems convincing.

Such is our intelligence corrupted by selfish desires and lusts, as the Bhagavad-Gita explains in 3.42. But instead, what we can do is try to cure the impurity by practicing bhakti, by praying to Krishna, by letting Him enter into our heart, and thus we can create a better life for ourselves.
