Only when we stop chasing the life of pleasure can we find the pleasure of life. The life of pleasure means that we think life is meant only for pleasure, and we start trying to cram our life with all the enjoyable activities that we can do with whatever resources we have. When our whole life is directed simply by the search for pleasure, we often forget higher principles, higher purposes, and our life devolves into meaninglessness, as the Bhagavad-Gita 3.17 states.
Instead, when we focus on cultivating higher principles and pursuing higher purposes, especially centered on our spiritual essence and our devotional connection with our Lord, then we find the pleasure of life, that is enduring, ever-increasing love with the all-attractive Lord of our heart.
