Bhagavad Gita 9.1
śrī-bhagavān uvāca
idaṁ tu te guhyatamaṁ pravakṣyāmy anasūyave
jñānaṁ vijñāna-sahitaṁ yaj jñātvā mokṣyase ’śubhāt
The Supreme Lord said:
I now declare to you this truth most rare,
The secret supreme, beyond compare.
With knowledge and realization perfectly combined,
It will remove inauspiciousness of every kind.
My dear Lord, you are so merciful that you give me not just the knowledge of your supreme lovability, but also the process to realize that love.
O omnipotent Lord, you give knowledge of your glory and greatness not out of ego, but out of your kindness toward me—to inspire me to direct my love first and foremost toward you. Whatever I may find lovable in anyone, you possess it all and more to the supreme degree. And what makes you most lovable is that you already love me. I don’t have to struggle to attract your attention or affection. And I never have to fear that my love for you would be one-sided.
O merciful Lord, after revealing the knowledge of how supremely desirable it is for me to love you, you then help me gain realization of the sweetness of your love by outlining and glorifying the path of bhakti. By practicing bhakti I can offer my love to you and thereby experience more and more of your love for me. Thus you help me to remove all the inauspiciousness from my future that comes primarily when my love is misdirected away from you.
Empower me, my loving Lord, to gratefully appreciate and apply the wealth of wisdom you are so generously sharing with me.
