Bhagavad Gita 13.29

samaṁ sarveṣu bhūteṣu

tiṣṭhantaṁ parameśvaram

vinaśyatsv avinaśyantaṁ

yaḥ paśyati sa paśyati

 

Seeing the Lord in every face,

Standing equal in every place;

Unchanged when changing forms all fall,

Such a seer truly sees it all.

 

My dear Lord, in relationships, distance is relative; one person may feel very close, while the other may feel very far away. That unfortunately is the state of my relationship with you.

O indwelling Lord, help me appreciate that you are not a remote divinity in a distant paradise; you are my invisible yet indispensable sustainer, always with me and within me. It is because of you that my heart beats. It is because of you that my blood flows. It is because of you that any thought arises in my brain, stirring me to activity or to curiosity. It is because of you that I have the opportunity to know you even after I have said no to you.

O unfailing Lord, help me acknowledge that it is I who have wandered far away from you, seeking substitutes for you, hoping to find pleasure elsewhere. Yet all I have discovered is that everything which promises to be an oasis turns out to be a mirage, leaving me stranded deeper and deeper in the desert of material existence.

O supreme benefactor, may the truth of my farness reinforce my resolve to turn back toward you, starting here, now. And may the truth of your nearness keep me confident that even if I falter and fall, you will shelter and strengthen me for the journey back to you.

13.29 One who sees the Supersoul equally present everywhere, in every living being, does not degrade himself by his mind. Thus he approaches the transcendental destination.
