Although Dhritarashtra saw the universal form, why did he not surrender to Krishna? Because his attachment acted like a blinding cloud. The great vision that Krishna gave him was like lightning; it flashed across the sky of his consciousness, spreading brilliant illumination, but only for a few moments. After that, the cloud of his attachments again covered that wisdom, and he went back to seeking the kingdom for himself and his son. Wisdom can act as light for those who are open-minded, but for those who are attached, wisdom acts like lightning — a brief illumination followed by darkness again.
