Bhagavad Gita 10.12
arjuna uvāca
paraṁ brahma paraṁ dhāma
pavitraṁ paramaṁ bhavān
puruṣaṁ śāśvataṁ divyam
ādi-devam ajaṁ vibhum
You are truth, the supreme divine,
Purest refuge, sacred shrine;
Eternal person—radiant divinity
Unborn, Primal Lord of majesty.
My dear Lord, when I understand your position, I appreciate that I live in you—existing within your material energy, knowing that you are not different from the universe. Indeed, you remain my shelter even when I turn away from you because I desire something other than you.
When I understand your unfailing support, O infallible Lord, I feel inspired to live for you instead of for the many worldly things that promise pleasure but deliver trouble. As I learn to live for you, I break free from the spell of worldly pursuits that can make my life self-destructive at worst and underproductive at best.
And when, O merciful Lord, I live for you throughout my life, then I will live with you—coming to your abode for eternal love and joy. Of course, you are with me even now in my heart, but my consciousness is not always with you. Even when it is with you, there is the danger of it being pulled away by worldly temptations. But when I reach you, O Lord, I will be with you forever, held by the supreme gravity-pull of your all-attractiveness that keeps me safe and satisfied in you.
