Bhagavad Gita 10.40

nānto ’sti mama divyānāṁ

vibhūtīnāṁ parantapa

eṣa tūddeśataḥ prokto

vibhūter vistaro mayā

 

There is never an end to my divine might,

My opulence extends far beyond sight;

This is but a glimpse, a partial trace,

Of glories spread across all time and space.

 

My dear Lord, through your explanation of vibhūti—the divine opulences manifested in this world—you offer a deeply enriching and empowering way to understand the apparent inequality in the gifts that different people receive.

When I understand that you are the source of everyone’s abilities, O all-attractive Lord, I realize that you are not neglecting me when you bless anyone with some extraordinary ability. Rather, whenever I behold their impressive abilities, you give me an impetus to hold you more firmly in my mind and heart, for the extraordinariness of their ability provides me an extraordinary opportunity to remember you.

O supremely empowering Lord, whenever you bless me with any such ability, please empower me to use it in a mood of service. Help me focus less on recognition and more on contribution, so that what I produce—whether art, literature, technology, or science—can carry beauty, majesty, and mystery that lift the consciousness of all who encounter it beyond the mundane and direct it toward you, the supreme reality.

O merciful Lord, let me be enriched by remembrance of you whenever I see extraordinary gifts in anyone. Bless me further so that I may be empowered to use whatever abilities you have given me for your glorification and for creating something of value and beauty. By remembering and redirecting the extraordinary in this world toward you—who are the supreme extraordinary beyond this world—may I constantly come closer to you.

10.40 O mighty conqueror of enemies, there is no end to My divine manifestations. What I have spoken to you is but a mere indication of My infinite opulences.
