Now Krishna will talk in next two verses about faith
Bg 3.31
ye me matam idaṁ nityam
anutiṣṭhanti mānavāḥ
śraddhāvanto ’nasūyanto
mucyante te ’pi karmabhiḥ
Word for word:
ye — those who; me — My; matam — injunctions; idam — these; nityam — as an eternal function; anutiṣṭhanti — execute regularly; mānavāḥ — human beings; śraddhā–vantaḥ — with faith and devotion; anasūyantaḥ — without envy; mucyante — become free; te — all of them; api — even; karmabhiḥ — from the bondage of the law of fruitive actions.
Translation:
Those persons who execute their duties according to My injunctions and who follow this teaching faithfully, without envy, become free from the bondage of fruitive actions.
ye me matam, these are my words
idaṁ nityam, these are eternal words, O Arjuna don’t think that I said these words to make you fight these are eternal truths. How we can entangle into modes and how we can become free from them.
anutiṣṭhanti mānavāḥ, so those manavah who act according to this instruction
faithfully śraddhāvanto ’nasūyanto, those who act with faith and without any envy.
What happens to them?
mucyante te ’pi karmabhiḥ, they will become liberated from the bondage of Karma, mucyante means they will be liberated.
So Krishna is telling here by faithful adhere of my instructions those who follow this will become liberated
SP Purport: An ordinary man with firm faith in the eternal injunctions of the Lord, even though unable to execute such orders, becomes liberated from the bondage of the law of karma.
So even though not able to execute the order of Krishna so how is that? Srila Prabhupada clarifies that:
SP Purport: In the beginning of Kṛṣṇa consciousness, one may not fully discharge the injunctions of the Lord, but because one is not resentful of this principle and works sincerely without consideration of defeat and hopelessness, he will surely be promoted to the stage of pure Kṛṣṇa consciousness.
So Srila Prabhupada is saying that we should not be resentful, and we work sincerely without consideration of defeat and hopelessness.
So say for example we have to become pure devotees of Krishna Anyabilasitha Sunyam, but I have material desires, so it is no possible for me, OK even you are not able to do it, it is ok we should not resent the principle. We will not be able to practice the principle but we should not resent the principle. Resentment creates a wall between us and Krishna, why is it like this? Why I am the servant and Krishna is the enjoyer? Actually word servant create a negative connotation in our mind.
Srila Prabhupada writes that service is the most congenial form of intimacy with the Lord the relationship between servant and Lord / Master in the transcendental world is very sweet, it is based on love. So once we understand that Krishna loves me and love means service, so with this understanding when we engage at that time there is no difficulty in the sense that even if I am not able to practice certain things I am not resenting the principle.
There are two types of devotees pure devotees and potential pure devotees, pure devotees doesn’t have any material desire, potential pure devotees are those devoees who have accepted the principle of pure devotees eventhough they are not able to practice these prinicples right now they are moving forward and they will come to the practice gradually, so if we do not have any resentment, I wanted to chant attentively but I am not able to concentrate what should I do, throw the bead bag forget this chanting? No! that is resentment, that is frustration without defeat and hopelessness, so even if I am not able to practice still we cintinue let me continue so if I keep contiuing like this if we try like this gradually purification will happen, Krishna is not just pleased by our action but also by our intention, so if we sees that we are trying to sincerely serve even if we are not able to serve, then Krishna sees our intention and He is pleased by our intention, and then He grands us purification and when there is purification then there is elevation and when there is elevation then there is higher satisfaction. Why satisfaction because we are connecting with Krishna, So even if we are not able to follow principle properly, the regulative principles are not able to follow properly, chanting we are not able to do properly but we have the intention and with the intention, Krishna you are the enjoyer and I am the servant, we have the intention and with intention we keep serving and then Purification, elevation and highe satisfaction will come and when higher satisfaction come then prasāde sarva-duḥkhānāṁ
hānir asyopajāyate
As we discussed in 2.65. And following these principles becomes easy so śraddhāvanto with faith we act.
So in this verse Krishna says what happens to those who are faithful.
