Bhagavad Gita 11.4
manyase yadi tac chakyaṁ
mayā draṣṭum iti prabho
yogeśvara tato me tvaṁ
darśayātmānam avyayam
If you think I can behold,
Your imperishable form untold;
O Lord of yoga, do show to me,
Your ageless boundless divinity.
My dear Lord, whatever little love and devotion I have for you will naturally express itself in my desire to know more about you, to be more with you, to behold you more. In any relationship, attraction naturally expresses itself as the desire to meet and behold the beloved. Similarly, knowing your sweetness, let my desire for you grow and glow till it becomes my life’s driving and defining desire.
At the same time, O Lord Almighty, let my desire for you never turn into a demand—let alone an ultimatum. Help me remember your greatness and my smallness, and thereby accept that you know what is best for me. Let me move gracefully and appreciate whatever degree of revelation you choose to bestow.
Please, O peerlessly expert Lord, my deepest desire is that you nourish my desire for you. You have mercifully allowed me to relish your beauty, your glory, your mercy in many ways—through your sweet names, your profound wisdom, your captivating forms, your mesmerizing pastimes, and your saintly devotees. May these extraordinary experiences energize my desire for you. Empowered by that divine desire, may I become absorbed in whatever revelation you have already given, and may I aspire for deeper and richer revelation, while waiting humbly for you to offer it whenever you see fit.
