Some people who are very bodily conscious and who especially feel that their body is not attractive enough, sometimes are afraid of looking at themselves in the mirror because they don’t like what they see over there. Well, most people do not fall in that category, but still most people do fall in a similar category. We may not mind looking at ourselves physically, but we do hesitate to look at ourselves internally. We hesitate to probe within ourselves because we are afraid of the darkness that we might find therein, of the dark desires, the dark fears, the dark dangers that we might find there. Fortunately, the Bhagavad-gītā says that if we look through this darkness, then beyond it, we can all come to the Supreme Light – the light of our spirituality and that is the light of supreme beauty.
