Bhagavad Gita 15.6

na tad bhāsayate sūryo

na śaśāṅko na pāvakaḥ

yad gatvā na nivartante

tad dhāma paramaṁ mama

No sun can illumine that realm so bright,

No moon, no fire lends it light;

Who reach that place return no more—

That realm is my eternal shore.

My dear Lord, this world is a place of physical darkness—without sources of illumination such as the sun, the moon, and fire, I would be left struggling and suffering in the dark. More dangerously, it is also a place of metaphysical darkness. In that darkness, I lose my sense of place and purpose. I start thinking that I know where I am and where I am supposed to go, while actually being caught in illusion under the spell of many misconceptions about my identity and my destiny. Under the influence of such misconceptions, I often create trouble for myself through my own short-sighted and misguided choices.

Still, O infallible Lord, you are so merciful that you bless me with both physical and metaphysical light. Physically, you provide light through the sun, the moon, and fire. Metaphysically, your words of wisdom help me see my true identity and destiny—that I am your part and that I am meant to live in the light of your love, learning to cherish your love for me and to cultivate my love for you.

O supreme beloved, when I let my heart be lit by your love, you liberate me from this world of illusory darkness and bring me to your eternal and eternally self-luminous abode. There I will never be lost and will live for a love that will forever last.

15.06 That supreme abode of Mine is not illumined by the sun or moon, nor by fire or electricity. Those who reach it never return to this material world.
