Bhagavad Gita 8.22

puruṣaḥ sa paraḥ pārtha bhaktyā labhyas tv ananyayā

yasyāntaḥsthāni bhūtāni yena sarvam idaṁ tatam

 

That supreme person, beyond all sight,

Is attained by devotion, steadfast and bright.

All beings rest within his embrace,

By him pervaded is time and space.

 

My dear Lord, help me appreciate that I am not in illusion because I am far away from you; I am in illusion because I think I am far away from you. The illusion is not in the state of my being; it is in the state of my thinking.

O all-pervading Lord, as long as I think of you with ordinary mundane conception, I conceive of you as existing far away in the spiritual world, merely radiating your influence across the universe. O God of Love, you reveal your pervasive presence as well as your personal presence to those who expand their consciousness—and do so not merely by engaging in philosophical contemplation about you but primarily by establishing a devotional connection with you. Help me, my Lord, to tune my consciousness to your presence to whatever little degree I am able to presently perceive.

Please bless me, O all-blissful Lord, to realize how I am with you right now, by letting my heart be with you right now for this moment. Let empowering me to do this be your mercy on me and let my wanting to do it be my offering of love to you.

08.22 The Supreme Personality of Godhead, who is greater than all, is attainable by unalloyed devotion. Although He is present in His abode, He is all-pervading, and everything is situated within Him.
