Bhagavad Gita 7.30

sādhibhūtādhidaivaṁ māṁ sādhiyajñaṁ ca ye viduḥ

prayāṇa-kāle ’pi ca māṁ te vidur yukta-cetasaḥ

 

The Lord of gods, seers, and every being,

The Supreme who is the basis of all beings,

Those who know Me thus as death draws near,

They attain Me as their Lord most dear.

 

My dear Lord, please protect me from the error of thinking of you in human terms just because you appear in a human-like form and perform human-like activities. But you are unlike any human being.

You, O Supreme Lord, have no cause. Indeed, you are the cause of all causes, which makes you fundamentally different from all human beings—indeed, from all living beings, who all come from some cause outside of themselves.

O Almighty Lord, you are self-contained; everything exists inside you. Indeed, even I exist inside you.

O inconceivable Lord, help me wrap my head around the truth that you are self-sufficient. You do not need anything or anyone outside of yourself, neither for your existence nor for your enjoyment. In this, I am categorically different, for I am dependent on things beyond me both for my existence and for my enjoyment.

Being self-caused, self-contained, and self-sufficient, O merciful Lord, you have no need for me. And yet, you always stay with me. Such is your love for me. Let this truth of your love for me enter deep into my head and my heart, and revive and revitalize my love for you.

07.30 Those in full consciousness of Me, who know Me, the Supreme Lord, to be the governing principle of the material manifestation, of the demigods, and of all methods of sacrifice, can understand and know Me, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, even at the time of death.
