Bhagavad Gita 7.2
jñānaṁ te ‘haṁ sa-vijñānam
idaṁ vakṣyāmy aśeṣataḥ
yaj jñātvā neha bhūyo ‘nyaj
jñātavyam avaśiṣyate
The deepest knowledge I now reveal,
Its realization too I will unveil.
When this you grasp, O seeker bright,
No truth shall ever escape your sight.
My dear Lord, you are forever ready to enlighten me about the vital truths of life. The specifics of how to deal with life’s many challenges are endless. You cut through all the complexity and reveal the principles that stand true in all situations.
O Lord, the pole star remains fixed high up in the sky, always present to guide seafarers, no matter how scary the waves or how inaccessible the shore. Similarly, my pole star in the ocean of material existence is your infallible, inexhaustible, invariable love for me.
Actually, O merciful Lord, you are much more than the pole star, because the pole star does not control the waves in the ocean, but you do. The many material ups and downs that can tempt or threaten me all occur under your supervision, for it is, after all, your energy.
Bless me, my unfailing Lord, to let the supreme reality of your love shape my vision of everything that happens in my life; and let my intention to reciprocate with your love shape all my choices. Draw me through your love as my pole star to you, who are the supreme shore of life and love everlasting.

JAPA is itself a pole star
