Bhagavad Gita 6.29

sarva-bhūta-stham ātmānaṁ

sarva-bhūtāni cātmani

īkṣate yoga-yuktātmā

sarvatra sama-darśanaḥ

 

“The yogi sees the Supersoul residing in all,

And in the Supersoul, residing one and all.

With vision equal, purified, and bright,

They see all of reality in truth’s clear light.”

 

My dear Lord, you mercifully manifest in many ways to reach me and to help me reach you: as the all-pervading ocean of light; as well as the indwelling divinity residing in every heart and guiding everyone’s wanderings in this world. 

You, my Lord, never leave my heart even when my heart leaves you. You never abandon me out of anger or disgust—no matter how many misdeeds or offenses I commit. In that sense, you are always in me.

Moreover, even if you are lost to me, I am never lost to you. That is, even if I don’t keep you in my heart, you, O Lord, still keep me in your heart. You always have a place for me in your divine plan. Even the worst of my wrongdoings, my Lord, can never throw me out of the scope of your plan. Or rather, you are so merciful that you expertly adapt your plan to accommodate my false steps and open for me opportunities to come toward you from wherever I may have wandered. In that sense, I am always in you. 

This understanding, my Lord, is so empowering. If my limited vision makes me feel hopeless, help me remember that there is another perspective—your perspective—from which nothing is ever hopeless.  Let that awareness, my Lord, make me devotionally resilient.

06.29 A true yogī observes Me in all beings and also sees every being in Me. Indeed, the self-realized person sees Me, the same Supreme Lord, everywhere.
