Some people think that they need to worry about things that are going wrong in this part of the world and that part of the world and here and there and everywhere – and they think that’s what makes them a socially conscious and responsible citizen. Actually, however, worrying about the world’s problems can often be our mind’s excuse for not working on our own problems. Change, if it is ever going to happen, has to be from inside out – it has to be from the individual to the world. If we work on ourselves, doing our part well in the small world that we are a part of, then we can gradually move upwards from a grassroots level to actually helping and resolve the world’s problems.
