To know what things are of value is good, to have the things of value is better and to value the things of value that we have is the best. The world is filled with things that glitter. Among all such things, few are the things that actually matter. To know which things are of value is the beginning of wisdom. But that alone doesn’t provide us happiness. We need to have the things of value. However, just possessing the things of value is also not enough because even while possessing those things, our attention can be captivated by the things that we don’t have. To value the things of value that we have, that is the discipline of mind that leads to happiness as the Bhagavad Gita 17.16 states.
