When two people have difference of opinion over some issue of faith, be they of the same religious tradition or of different religious traditions – the worst way that they can approach the issue is by focusing on proving that they are right and the other person is wrong. Generally, this only angers, antagonizes and alienates the other person. While sometimes such polemical discussion is necessary, the more universally useful and fruitful approach is to focus not on proving but on improving. If our religious practices lead us to a higher consciousness and make us better human beings: that is what will inform and transform others the most.
