sañjaya uvāca
ity ahaṁ vāsudevasya
pārthasya ca mahātmanaḥ
saṁvādam imam aśrauṣam
adbhutaṁ roma-harṣaṇam
Synonyms:
sañjayaḥ uvāca — Sañjaya said; iti — thus; aham — I; vāsudevasya — of Kṛṣṇa; pārthasya — and Arjuna; ca — also; mahā–ātmanaḥ — of the great soul; saṁvādam — discussion; imam — this; aśrauṣam — have heard; adbhutam — wonderful; roma–harṣaṇam — making the hair stand on end.
Translation:
Sañjaya said: Thus have I heard the conversation of two great souls, Kṛṣṇa and Arjuna. And so wonderful is that message that my hair is standing on end.
ity ahaṁ vāsudevasya, Between vāsudevasya
pārthasya ca mahātmanaḥ, Between vāsudevasya and Partha
Mahabhart is narrated by Vaisapayan Rishi to Janmajeya, son of Parikshit Maharaj, great grand son of Arjuna,
Within Mahabharat Sanjaya is narrating to Dhritarastra
Within that in the Bhisma Parva there is conversation between Krishna and Arjuna,
Conversation between Dhritarastra and Sanjaya started in BG with first question what happened and now Sanjay is answering that this beautiful conversation takes place.
Mahatma word is used by Krishna and Sanjaya both to refer to devotees. Sanjaya has used the word to address Krishna and Arjuna both here.

bhajanty ananya-manaso
jñātvā bhūtādim avyayam

bahūnāṁ janmanām ante
jñānavān māṁ prapadyate

sa mahātmā su-durlabhaḥ
Krishna is Maha – Atma that there is no doubt and Arjuna is also because he has surrendered to will of Krishna.
saṁvādam imam aśrauṣam, aśrauṣam is to hear, sravan is to hear, I have heard this Samvad
adbhutaṁ roma-harṣaṇam, it is wonderful it is extraordinary, amazing, and as a result the hair on my body are standing up, so earlier roma harsha was because of fear now it is because of ecstasy
