buddhir jñānam asammohaḥ,
buddhiḥ — intelligence; jñānam — knowledge
Srila Prabhupada’s Purport: Intelligence refers to the power to analyse things in their proper perspective, and knowledge refers to understanding what is spirit and what is matter
jñānam is mentioned in 13.3 in BG, matter, spirit and controller of both is knowledge and intelligence means to understand their interaction.
To analyses things is proper perspective, to prioritise to rearrange to harmonise requires intelligence.
asammohaḥ — freedom from doubt and delusion.
We all are conditioned. Red glass see everything red. Transparent glass we can see as it is.
matta eva pṛthag-vidhāḥ, all these qualities come from Me.
Staya means that which is truthful at the same time it should take people towards Krishna.
damaḥ — control of the senses
we will not engage in sinful activity
Better than that is śamaḥ — control of the mind
We don’t let mind itself get agitated.
sukham — happiness; duḥkham — distress; bhavaḥ — birth; abhāvaḥ — death
bhayam — fear; ca — also; abhayam — fearlessness;
So it is easy to understand when good comes from Him but how to understand when He says even miseries comes from Him, that simply means
Krishna pervades all existence. So whatever we are experiencing in life ultimately it comes from Krishna. So these things are there and based on our Karam we get it.
So the best example is sun does not create shadow when a person turns away from sun it creates shadow.
So Krishna has made overall arrangement within which this duality of world function.
Krishna wanted to give us Supreme stability and existence which is beyond this duality. We will reach that when we will take Shelter of Krishna.
SP Purport: Similarly, one should restrain the mind from unnecessary thoughts; that is called śama. One should not spend one’s time pondering over earning money. That is a misuse of the thinking power.
Artha is one of the purushsrtha, it is required for living but one should not be obsessed with that. So a devotee will put the necessary thought as required for earning money but that is not the default thought of devotee.
That which takes me away from Krishna is painful and devotee should avoid that.
SP Purport: Ahiṁsā, nonviolence, means that one should not do anything which will put others into misery or confusion.
So misery is physiological and confusion is intellectual. So to mislead people is a form of Himsa,
SP Purport: Of whatever we find, good or bad, the origin is Kṛṣṇa. Nothing can manifest itself in this material world which is not in Kṛṣṇa. That is knowledge; although we know that things are differently situated, we should realise that everything flows from Kṛṣṇa.
So the important point is see connectedness of creation with Krishna.
