Duryodhana continued with his atrocities even after they failed. Sometimes, when we try to do something bad and it doesn’t work, we realize, “This is not working, and this is bad. Maybe I should stop.” But Duryodhana kept doing bad things. First, he tried to poison Bhima. Then, he attempted to burn all the Pandavas, including their mother, alive. After that, he tried to disrobe Draupadi in public. He kept doing worse and worse things. Why? Two reasons: externally, he surrounded himself with bad association, especially Shakuni, who kept giving him worse ideas. Internally, he held on to his envy. Even when the Pandavas offered him the better half of the kingdom, he still held on to his envy. Envy and bad association led him to do terrible things.
