Anxiety may just be the default reaction of our body-mind machine in certain situations; we may not be able to stop that reaction, but we can create a healthier habit. For example, when we practice deep breathing, mantra chanting, praying, or uttering affirmations regularly, these practices will come to our aid even in times of anxiety. By giving ourselves something tangible and workable to do during times of anxiety, we can lessen its impact on us.

The antidote for anxiety is action—to prepare for times when we succumb to anxiety, we equip ourselves with actions we can take when we are in those times.
