Revenge burns not our enemy but ourselves. Revenge doesn’t rebuild the past. It only burns what’s still standing. Duryodhana wanted revenge on Bhima for tossing him about in water when they were playing water sports as children. That one humiliation – he let it grow into a war that drowned the world. All his brothers dead. His kingdom ashes. His soul doomed. The Gita 11.55 says, “Make Krishna your supreme goal and be free from hatred.” And Bhakti empowers us with the vision and the inspiration to pursue a higher purpose far grander than petty revenge. Let the flame of devotion illuminate your heart and it will eliminate from there the fire of vengeance.
