Have you met people who are regularly rude?

It’s not that they’ve had a hard day—

being with them makes every day a hard day.

Why are they like this?

Some are rude by nature.

Their past habits or karmic impressions

make them instinctively know

what words will hurt others most.

Others are rude by choice—

they practice rudeness,

thinking it shows power

and earns respect.

But all they really do

is abuse their power

and provoke fear and resentment.

The Bhagavad Gita (16.4) calls harsh speech

a mark of the demoniac.

Such people may be feared

as long as they have power,

but they will never be loved,

trusted, or wanted.

Even if they are powerful,

they will be powerfully lonely.
