Suppose someone has a severe disease that takes time to cure. We don’t hold it against them if they don’t become healthy overnight, even after they have started making healthier choices in terms of their eating, lifestyle, and medication. Similarly, if we consider anxiety to be like a mental defect or disease, we need to recognize that adopting healthier habits of the mind does not necessarily mean we will immediately become free from anxiety. We need to be patient and persistent in our journey toward freedom from anxiety.

The anxious mind is a sick mind—be patient with the patient.
