The difference between anxiety and fear is that anxiety is more generalized and associated with the tendencies of the mind. Fear is often specific and associated with certain external stimuli that may cause the emotion of anxiety within us. While this technical difference between anxiety and fear is important, it is also crucial to understand that fear itself cannot and should not be eradicated. However, anxiety can be substantially decreased by recognizing that the external stimulus causing us concern is triggering an internal response that may be excessive, either in terms of the quantity of the emotion or the longevity of the emotion even after the stimulus is no longer present.
