dyūtaṁ chalayatām asmi
tejas tejasvinām aham
jayo ’smi vyavasāyo ’smi
sattvaṁ sattvavatām aham
Word for word:
dyūtam — gambling; chalayatām — of all cheats; asmi — I am; tejaḥ — the splendor; tejasvinām — of everything splendid; aham — I am; jayaḥ — victory; asmi — I am; vyavasāyaḥ — enterprise or adventure; asmi — I am;sattvam — the strength; sattva–vatām — of the strong; aham — I am.
Translation:
I am also the gambling of cheats, and of the splendid I am the splendor. I am victory, I am adventure, and I am the strength of the strong.
dyūtaṁ chalayatām asmi, chalayatām means cheats so among all forms of cheating I am gambling, when someone is deluded so much for example in gambling everyone knows one is more likely lose than win, if gambler were meant to gain then gambling house were meant to become bankrupt, here the point is not that cheating of good or divine cheating is accepted as part of the nature and within ways of cheating some cheating which are extraordinary and those cheatings the opulence the intelligence which is manifested over there that can also be seen as a manifestation of God,
tejas tejasvinām aham, I am the splendor of the splendid so some people have charisma, some people have a personality that splendor is a representation of Krishna, what makes people attracted to charisma or splendor when sociologist and historians tried to deconstruct charisma it is very difficult to deconstruct, disciples are attracted to spiritual master other people may wonder what is this? Why are they so madly attracted towards that person? Of course charisma of a material leader and spiritual leader are of different nature but still the point is that splendor of the splendid is the manifestation of Krishna,
jayo ’smi vyavasāyo ’smi, so when there is Jaya when there is victory, there is thrill which is so accelerating so that they wanted it again and again and they live for it, so what is that feeling? Now at material level that feeling is fleeting it comes and it goes, but when it is there it is so accelerating that people wants it. When devotees feel it they feel it as experience of Krishna but this experience of Krishna doesn’t take a person close to Krishna so a devotee doesn’t try for material successes and feeling of victory over there but they try to serve Krishna whole heartedly and then Krishna connection is there those feelings are constant and very sweet at that time, vyavasāyo ’smi, Srila Prabhupada translated as enterprise or adventure, people participate in risk taking event and adventure and in that sense they get a kick and that kick is there sense of joy. When we wanted to share KC with other there is extraordinarily adventure and instead of having meaningless adventure these are supremely meaningful adventure because through this adventure we are helping other’s come close to Krishna and we are granting them highest happiness in existence
sattvaṁ sattvavatām aham, so among the strength I am string he says. Strength is also an opulence and Krishna says that opulence comes from Me.
