We all have probably heard of or even seen good people who end up doing shocking things. If we are brutally honest, we ourselves sometimes fall in that category.
So, why do good people sometimes do terrible things?
Because they neglect the boundaries that keep them good.
We all have dark tendencies inside us.
As long as such impurities are contained within by boundaries built by culture and conscience,
they don’t harm us.
But when we start ignoring those boundaries—
through small indulgences we dismiss as “no big deal”—
we weaken the walls that protect us.
Over time, those inner impurities grow stronger, push harder,
break through the walls,
and drive us toward destructive, even despicable, actions.
The Bhagavad Gita 2.67 cautions:
every fall begins with a small slip.
Find and fix the small lapse before it leads to a huge collapse.
