Science has explained many mysteries about material nature. And it will explain more. Still because it focuses on matter, it can’t explain the non-material.
However, fanatical materialists misappropriate the power and prestige of science for propagating materialism. They argue that the non-material which science can’t explain doesn’t need explaining because it doesn’t matter. But this is not an argument – it is an article of faith, a belief that is blind and blinding.
Let’s see how:
Blind: Just as the visible world continues to exist and matter even if the blind can’t see it, so do non-material issues continue to exist and matter despite the materialists’ blindness to them. The most critical materially unanswerable questions pertain to identity and purpose.
Identity: Who am I? Where does my sense of selfhood come from? How can the insentient matter that comprises my body and brain produce something that experiences matter – me?
Purpose: What is the purpose of my existence? What is the point of the fabulous bodily machinery with its many brilliant techniques for survival – a subject fascinating for science – if life has no end better than annihilation at death?
Blinding: The belief in the irrelevance of the non-material drags its believers deeper into the degradation wrought by an unfettered materialistic lifestyle. The Bhagavad-gita (16.08) outlines how those who reject life’s spiritual dimension descend into carnality. The next verse (16.09) delineates their further degeneration into depravity that ruins the world.
The Gita’s prophetic warning is etched in recent history through the blood of millions. The militantly anti-spiritual communism that ruled USSR and China killed seven times more people than both the World Wars combined.
Thankfully, Gita wisdom stands ready to take the intelligent beyond irrational materialism by providing rational and verifiable answers to life’s fundamental questions.
Hare Krishna! Haribol!
The modern science and the scientists and the so-called modern materialistic intellectuals are least interested to discuss about krishna and the spiritual topics like bhagavad gita. They only think and teach about the materialism and the ways to enjoy and conquer the world without any real essence and substance. Bhagavad gita must be included in our academic curriculum in schools, colleges and professional institutes to neutralise the evils of materialistic influences or else we are doomed.
This blindness is caused by false ego…

Hare krishna prabhuji!
What I am saying may be irrilivant to this article. I believe and trust Krishna and follow all the scriptural regulations, but what we are experienceing weather wise in united States is beyond tolerance. Since last two wks.there are snow storms after snow storms. People are striended at airport unable to rich there destination. Schools are closed. People are unable to go to work. Elderly people like me are unable to see Dr.and stuck at home unable to get groceries.
How do you apply Gita wisdom in such situations?
Is there anything left to us other than keep praying?
Yes, Mataji. Such situations can be very difficult even for those with faith. I have offered some philosophical perspectives here:
