Krishna is describing how devotional activity study of Bhagavad Gita is.
Many people think that BG is a very philosophical book we are rasik bhaktas so we will relish the pastimes in SB or in CC, we don’t want to be Gyanis, actually BG is not for Gyanis it is for Bhaktas, and Krishna is telling studying BG is a form of Bhakti it is a form of worship, Krishna is saying don’t think that worship can be performed only with lamp and incenses. Worship can be performed not with just gross paraphernalia but also with subtle paraphernalia which is our own intelligence, so when we study BG we are worshiping Krishna with our intelligence so it is a very devotional activity. And it is limb of Bhakti it is an integral part of Bhakti, different people may have different opinion but this is Krishna’s supreme opinion. Yes but we should have devotional disposition there are scholars who study BG very scrutinizing but there disposition is anti-devotional. They come to BG with preconceived notion like impersonal Brahman is the highest that is what I wanted to prove with BG. So here Krishna is not talking about such kind of people.
For such kind of people Krishna has talked in 3.32
ye tv etad abhyasūyanto
nānutiṣṭhanti me matam
sarva-jñāna-vimūḍhāṁs tān
viddhi naṣṭān acetasaḥ
Synonyms:
ye — those; tu — however; etat — this; abhyasūyantaḥ — out of envy; na — do not; anutiṣṭhanti — regularly perform; me — My; matam — injunction; sarva–jñāna — in all sorts of knowledge; vimūḍhān — perfectly befooled; tān — they are; viddhi — know it well; naṣṭān — all ruined; acetasaḥ — without Kṛṣṇa consciousness.
Translation:
But those who, out of envy, disregard these teachings and do not follow them regularly are to be considered bereft of all knowledge, befooled, and ruined in their endeavors for perfection.
But devotees who study BG deeply to understand Krishna and His message deeply they are worshiping Krishna by their intelligence. It is a very devotional activity.
By doing this Bhakti Shahstri course we will study deeply and understand how much Krishna love us and by this our desire to love Krishna will increase. And in this way our Bhakti will be nourished.
