yo māṁ paśyati sarvatra
sarvaṁ ca mayi paśyati
tasyāhaṁ na praṇaśyāmi
sa ca me na praṇaśyati
Word for word:
yaḥ — whoever; mām — Me; paśyati — sees; sarvatra — everywhere; sarvam — everything; ca — and; mayi — in Me; paśyati — sees; tasya — for him; aham — I; na — not; praṇaśyāmi — am lost; saḥ — he; ca — also; me — to Me; na — nor; praṇaśyati — is lost.
Translation:
For one who sees Me everywhere and sees everything in Me, I am never lost, nor is he ever lost to Me.
yo māṁ paśyati sarvatra, one who sees Me everywhere, sarvaṁ ca mayi paśyati and sees everything in Me, tasyāhaṁ, such a person, na praṇaśyāmi, I am never lost for such a person nor that person has ever lost for Me, tasyāhaṁ na praṇaśyāmi, sa ca me na praṇaśyati.
Sri Sri Krishna will use the word praṇaśyati in famous word, Kaunte he Prtijnati Na Me Bhakta praṇaśyati, in 9.31 and Sri Krishna has also used the word praṇaśyati earlier in “2.63 d”, when he said Bhuddhi Nasat praṇaśyati, praṇaśyati can be refers to fall, lost, destruction so in Bhuddhi Nasat praṇaśyati refers to fall down so when intelligence is lost one falls back, then here also it refers to fall, that person is never lost to Me and also I am never lost to him, so if we perceive Krishna we are connected to Krishna everywhere even if we are in this material world. So actually this can be understood at various levels, Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu sees Sri Krishna everywhere and same by Gopis, Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu will see ordinary mountain and he think it is Govardhan, Someone asked Srila Prabhupada how can we see Krishna everywhere, Srila Prabhupada said when everything reminds us of Krishna, just like when mother loves child whatever mother sees connected to child she remembers child, this is my child’s shoes, this is how my child talks, these are my child’s toys and whatever she see, because there is love, so everything reminds her of the child, similarly whatever the devotees sees, devotees understand everything is energy of Sri Krishna by that devotees become attracted to Sri Krishna, so we see this yo māṁ paśyati sarvatra, sarvaṁ ca mayi paśyati in a most exalted stage there can be multiple levels now in an abstract theoretical sense when I see the sky when I see the mountains when I see river, I can think that O all these are Bhumi Apara Analo Vayu are all Sri Krishna’s energy when we sees the trees ok all these are Sri Krishna’s energy that is one level of perception. The gopis are at far deeper level of KC when Krishna left them whatever they see they will see in connection with Sri Krishna, they will see she dear they will ask some other living beings some animals Have you seen Krishna, then they see some male animals and think that males are hard hearted and one male will help another male they will not help another female. Then they will she dear then tulasi so they will think tulasi will help us she will understand plight of us, then they will see she dear and start thinking that you are also bereaved, is it that he dear has left you just as we have been left by Sri Krishna, so whoever they will see they will try to ask where is Krishna where is Krishna the gopis demonstrated the level of yo māṁ paśyati sarvatra they see Krishna everywhere and whatever they will see they will think, O’ is this Sri Krishna’s sound so when Sri Krishna will go out in forest they will be waiting when Sri Krishna will come back when He will come back, even though Krishna is not there they were thinking of Krishna all the time, yo māṁ paśyati sarvatra. So Sri Krishna told to Udhava that Separation from Me is impossible, the Gopis were separated from Krishna isn’t they were? They were separated from Krishna’s form but Sri Krishna is within their heart and everything and everywhere they are seeing in connection to Krishna this is very exalted position.
Srila Prabhupada quotes from Brahma Samhita 5.38:
premāñjana-cchurita-bhakti-vilocanena
santaḥ sadaiva hṛdayeṣu vilokayanti
yaṁ śyāmasundaram acintya-guṇa-svarūpaṁ
govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi
“I worship the primeval Lord, Govinda, who is always seen by the devotee whose eyes are anointed with the pulp of love. He is seen in His eternal form of Śyāmasundara, situated within the heart of the devotee.”
Premāñjana, anjana is like ointment like Amritha anajana which people apply at head. When someone is having eye diseases the eyes are burning and people will not be able to see clearly so Anjana will cool the eyes, cleanses the eyes, heals the eyes when it is applied the person can see that clearly, so like that currently our eyes are diseased they are diseased by material desires because of that we can see only material things right now but
premāñjana-cchurita-bhakti-vilocanena, when we apply ointment of love, so it is interesting ointment of Prema we quote this verse but this verse is profound, first the verse says bhakti-vilocanena then premāñjana, so the eyes of devotion and the ointment of love so we all can say that I also have eyes of devotion, I am trying to practice devotional service and when I look at Krishna I say He is my Lord, and I wanted to offer my whole life to this Lord, so we can say that we have bhakti-vilocanena, bhakti is a stage of progression there are 9 stages in Bhakti and final stage in this progression is Prema, so we have to devotionalize and not only devotionalize but we should have loving disposition so when we have both that means when we go through process of devotional advancement and come to the level of Prema then this is the vision we get, santaḥ sadaiva, saintly people always what? hṛdayeṣu vilokayanti they see within the heart vilocanena, what they see? yaṁ śyāmasundaram acintya-guṇa-svarūpaṁ, they see śyāmasundara and acintya-guṇa-svarūpaṁ they see śyāmasundara in heart of all living entity in everyone’s heart and they see inconceivable quality and form of Shayam Sundar and that Lord who is revealed through Love govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi, I pay my obeisance to that Lord Govinda who is adi-purusha.
